  i started dating a coworker who is a divorced jw.

  found out he was disfellowshipped, and he was trying to figure out how to make things work.

  i am not a jw, and his family is not supportive of the relationship.

  Trying to get my head around these go bags

  when i was looking at prepping back in the 90s i was told by several elders that we needed to just rely on the org and jehovah and not prep.

  i started to put away vacuum sealed bags of rice beans and spices anyway.

  now they have this go bag crap.

  There will also be angelic antimatter clean-up teams disposing of corpses.

  It is my opinion that IF you get baptized, you "join their club" and indicate that you are willing to obey their rules.

  If you then break their rules, then,according to their rules, they can "disfellowship" you, at which point all the rule-following JWs will shun you.

  For that reason it is best to avoid getting baptized!

  The argument about people not having power over you could be said about almost any relationship. For example, long ago I had a job that involved a lot of daily travel. One winter we had a very rare and very heavy ice-storm and I decided that road conditions were dangerous, so I called my office and told them I was staying home that day, taking a "sick day." The next day when conditions had considerably improved, my District Manager called me out for not coming in to work and told me, "in the future, >I< will decide when it is not safe for you to come in to work. To myself I replied, "No, you will only decide if you will pay me for the day or not." The Manager sat in a warm, hazard-free office and drove a desk all day. He wasn't going to tell me to get in a wreck, maimed or killed at his whim.

  There could have been negative consequences for me, in spite of the fact that I decided that >I< would control myself.

  If you get baptized and the WTB&TS decides to disfellowsip you, you can't say, "No, I'm NOT disfellowshipped."

  By the way, I got baptized 56 years ago when I was 14 because my mother and some elders TOLD ME it was time to get baptized. No one said a word about it being a "personal or private decision."

  Years ago I coined the phrase (right here on this site) that baptism was the FIRST STEP in becoming an XJW.

  Better still is it to never become a JW in the first place.

  frozen2018, I'm glad your love's experience was so positive.

  What concerns me are the scandals, like with the Air Force Academy, that show the officers in charge to be unenlightened "good-old-boys" who protect rapists. We haven't yet achieved a "Star Fleet" level of consciousness with some of those halfwits. I want to see both the honorable men and women who serve treated with honor and the criminals in the brig processing big rocks into little rocks.

  So -- what would you do if you leave your Dad's house?

  * will you move in with your "worldly" boyfriend and exchange sex for rent?

  * will you seek a glamorous career as a stripper or a streetwalker?

  * will you enlist in the military? I often suggest this to GUYS, but I'm not sure that for the average young lady it is a great idea.

  * do you have an income stream that would keep you fed and with a roof over your head after your Dad cuts you off? Maybe you bought a winning lottery ticket or a rich Uncle left you a couple million?

  THINK about this; maybe talk to a school counselor about your situation. Don't jump from the frying pan into the fire!

  My Girlfriend’s Beautiful Scottish Terrier Died Yesterday 😥

  mia was almost 8 and she was the sweetest dog who was my girlfriend’s constant companion.

  she had a wonderful disposition and was just a source of joy to everyone who would meet her.. she was brought to the vet on thursday and seemed to have digestive issues.

  the vet gave her medicine and said it would make her sleepy.

  Coronavirus Positive

  hey all,.

  i'm day six of isolation, confirmed to have coronavirus.

  i have been seeing very sick cv positive patients over the last month in my a&e role (emergency physician) it was inevitable i would contract it.. just wanted to give some symptom and treatment advice, it's anecdotal but may help.. started as sore throat and headache, then croaky voice, then dry cough, then episodic transient fevers, all this over the first few days.
